CORPORATE AND TAX STATUS:

Established as a nonstock Wisconsin corporation, WIL is seeking recognition as a tax exempt advocacy organization under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations to WIL are attributed 100 percent to lobbying expenses under the Code and are not deductible as an ordinary or necessary business expense.  For guidance on this point and other tax matters, you should consult your tax advisor.

As an advocacy organization, WIL regularly monitors legislative and regulatory activities in Wisconsin and takes positions on a variety of public policy matters.  As part of these direct and grassroots lobbying efforts, WIL provides information to the general public on issues and policies that may be associated with a public official or a candidate.  All of these activities are done in support of WIL's lobbying efforts and WIL does not consider any of its activities to "political" as defined under the Internal Revenue Code.
